Winter Carnival
Families can enjoy the annual Lombard Park District Winter Carnival from noon-2:30 pm on Saturday, February 3. Activities include hayrides, the Holiday Express train, refreshments, snow games, a marshmallow roast, and arts and crafts. The event is free and located at Lombard Community Building, 433 E. 2007 Dance Recital Tickets on Sale
Tickets are on sale now for the 2007 Lombard Park District Winter Dreams Dance Recital. The show will be Saturday, February 24 at 2 pm at Glenbard East High School. Youth and adult dance classes will perform a variety of dance styles. For more information contact the Lombard Park District at (630) 620-7322.
Spring Soccer
Lombard Park District spring soccer for ages 4 through 8th grade will begin April 21. Players will improve their soccer skills and share in the fun and camaraderie at the heart of youth sports. The Park District selects the teams and the coaches determine the practice times. Games are on Saturday and practices are on weeknights. Shin guards and shirts are required. Shirts may be purchased for $16 through the Park District at the time of registration. The cost is $40 for residents and $50 for others when registering by March 10. School’s Out! Open Gym
Children in grades 3-12 will enjoy a variety of sports and prizes at the Lombard Park District School’s Out Open Gym. Open Gym will be offered on non-school days this month, including Friday, February 16 from noon-3:30 pm and Monday, February 19 from 9-11 am and 1-3:30 pm. Drop-ins only. The cost is $1 per hour attended. Open Gym is located at Pleasant Lane School, 401 N. Main Street. Indoor Swim Lessons
The Lombard Park District will offer indoor morning swim lessons for all ages on Saturdays this winter. The next session will run February 24-March 24. Lesson fees vary by age level and are held at International Village, 1300 S. Finley Road. Registration required. Private Parties at Moran Water Park
Book your private party at the Moran Water Park for your child’s birthday, graduation or just a family get-together. Parties are being scheduled now. Space is limited. The water park features two 210-foot long water slides, a six lane lap pool and diving well, a sand play area and sand volleyball court, two zero-depth pools with a waterfall play area and a concession stand. Garden Plots
Garden plots are available in Madison Meadow, located off Madison Street near Ahrens Avenue. The plots are approximately 20’x40’. Returning gardeners may reserve their plot starting February 1. Open registration will begin March 7. Plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis during open registration. Fees are $35 for residents and $50 for non-residents. The gardening season begins in April, weather permitting. Renters are responsible for the upkeep of the plot. Lilac Time 5K Volunteers Needed
The Lombard Park District and Lombard Town Centre are looking for volunteers for the second annual Lilac Time Mutt Strut 5K and 1 mile walk. This event will be held Saturday, May 19, at 8 am near Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Avenue. Dogs are welcome to participate in the event. Lilac Time Volunteers
The Lombard Park District is seeking Lilac Time volunteers for the annual spring festival, held May 5-20 in Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Avenue. Volunteers will earn a Moran Water Park Pool Pass or select program credits by donating their time. Job Opportunities at Moran Water Park
Applications are now being accepted for summer employment at Moran Water Park. Openings are available in the following areas: lifeguards, water safety, cashiers, concessions, maintenance, and swim instruction. Training for all positions is provided. Preschool Parties
Youth ages 3-6 are invited to participate in Preschool Parties, a Friday afternoon program sponsored by the Lombard Park District. Each party features a different theme, with related crafts, games and refreshments. Children must be toilet independent or in pull-ups. Upcoming themes include Valentine’s Day on February 9, Disneyland Fun on February 16 and Dora the Explorer on February 23. The cost is $9 for residents and $11 for others. The parties run from 1-3 p.m. at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Registration required. Parent’s Time Out
Parent’s Time Out allows parents to have time away while we entertain children with games, coloring and toys. The program is open to ages 6 months to 5 years and is offered Monday-Friday from 9-11 am (check park district brochure for official schedule). Kiddie Campus Preschool Registration
Kiddie Campus Preschool is accepting resident applications for the 2007-2008 school year lottery until February 6. The preschool, run by the Lombard Park District, is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) – the nation’s leading organization of early childhood professionals. Open to ages 3-6, education is based on reading and writing skills and includes activities in the areas of music, art, science, language, math and gross and fine motor development. Children also go on field trips throughout the year. Registration will be filled via a random draw on February 6. Registration for non-residents begins February 13. Carve a Statue
Students will learn basic clay hand-building techniques and a three phase method for shaping, carving and coloring a 12-14" statue through Carve a Statue, a program through the Lombard Park District. The class will be held Tuesdays, February 27-March 13 from 6:30-7:30 pm. The cost is $30 for residents and $33 for non-residents. Spirit Kachina Doll
Students will learn to create a traditional native American dancer, hunter, medicine man or warrier as an 8x10" clay doll. The doll will be formed, fired and decorated. Make a Mask

Draw Your House
Participants will draw a charming ink drawing of their own home with Draw Your House, a program for ages 16 and up through the Lombard Park District. An 8x10" drawing will be done in crownquill pen and ink and is easily reproduced on a computer or copier. The class meets Wednesdays, February 21-28, from 11 am-noon. Young Rembrandts
Children ages 3 ½-12 can learn to draw with Young Rembrandts, an introductory drawing class featuring a variety of projects. Students will use pencils, crayons and markers as they learn new drawing techniques. The class will be held Saturdays, February 17-March 10 from 9:30-10:15 am for ages 3 ½-5 and from 10:30-11:15 am for ages 6-12. The cost is $49 for residents and $51 for non-residents. Cartooning for Kids
Kids ages 6-13 will enjoy Cartooning for Kids, a four-week program focusing on drawing facial expression, personality, movement and action sequences in everyday animals and people through cartoons. Identity Fraud
The Lombard Park District is hosting an Identify Fraud workshop to teach consumers how to protect themselves from losing their good name and reputation. The session, led by Liberty Mutual, will be held on Tuesday, February 27, from 7-8 pm at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. The cost is $3 for residents and $5 for non-residents. Fitness Center Memberships
The Lombard Park District Fitness Center is now offering memberships in one year and 3-month increments. Visitors may also purchase punch cards or pay on a daily basis, as well. Equipment includes free weights, Cybex weight machines, treadmills, elliptical machine, recumbent bikes and more. Personal training is also available from a certified personal trainer. Sessions are one hour and can be private or semi-private. The Fitness Center is located at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Rental Facilities & Picnic Site Rentals
Lombard Park District offers a variety of facilities available for rent for personal or corporate use, including picnic sites and shelters. Facilities also include the Lombard Lagoon Center, the rustic Log Cabin, Western Acres Golf Course Clubhouse and the Lombard Community Building. Golf Course Clubhouse Rentals
The Western Acres Golf Course Clubhouse is available to rent through March 31, weather permitting. The spacious facility features a view onto Western Acres Golf Course and a large, open room and bar. The clubhouse will accommodate up to 60 people. The golf course is located at 2400 W. Butterfield Road.
