Junior Under the Sea Camp
Children ages 5-7 can learn to draw under the sea creatures with amazing detail and color using pencils, markers and sharpies with Junior Under the Sea Camp, a three-day spring break camp. The program will be held Monday, March 26, Wednesday, March 28 and Friday, March 30 from 9:30-11 am. The cost is $53 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Class meets at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Registration required. Animal Cartoon Camp
Children ages 7-12 can learn to draw cartoons, including expressions, human characteristics, movement, action and joke sequencing centered on different animals with Animal Cartoon Camp. This is a popular spring break camp will meet Monday, March 26, Wednesday, March 28 and Friday, March 30 from 11:15 am-12:45 pm daily. The cost is $53 for residents and $55 for non-residents. Home Alone
Children will learn helpful tips with Home Alone, a one-day workshop for ages 7-12. The American Red Cross course teaches skills that children should know, including answering phones and doors. The class meets Tuesday, March 6 from 6-7 pm at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. The cost is $13 for residents and $16 for others. Registration required. The Consumer Who Could
Participants will learn how to be a better consumer with “The Consumer Who Could,” a one-day workshop offered through the Lombard Park District. This session will teach participants how to fight back against high interest rates, incorrect billing or policies that don’t make sense. Simple tips and techniques for an effective complaint will be discussed. The event will be held Monday, March 12 at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Magic Classes
Kids can enjoy a variety of magic classes during spring break. Balloon Twisting will be offered on Wednesday, March 28 from 9 am-noon. The cost is $32 for residents and $35 for non-residents. Intro to Three Ball Juggling will be held Tuesday, March 27 from 10:15-11:15 am. Intro to Scarf Juggling will be held Tuesday, March 27 from 9-10 am. The juggling programs are $16 each for residents and $19 each for non-residents. All classes meet at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Registration required. Kreative Kreations Princess Dollies
Girls ages 3-13 can enjoy Kreative Kreations Princess Dollies on Friday, March 30 from 10-11 am. Participants should bring an American Girl Doll, or 15-18" doll of their choice, and turn her into a fairy princess with a headpiece, magical wand and princess outfit. The cost is $34 for residents and $36 for non-residents. The event is located at Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road. Registration required. Kreative Kreations Princess Wonderland
Kids ages 3-13 will enjoy Kreative Kreations Princess Wonderland during spring break! Girls can come dressed up and enjoy a princess story and create a tiara, fairy wand, and sparkle jewelry. Free Cake Decorating Demo
The public is invited to a free cake decorating demo by a Wilton Industries instructor on Tuesday, February 27 from 5-8 pm. Cupcakes and cookies will be served and participants can learn more about the cake decorating classes that will be starting soon at the Lombard Park District. Bags Tournament
Adults ages 21 and up are invited to participate in a Bags Tournament sponsored by the Lombard Park District. The double-elimination event will take place Saturday, March 24 from noon-6 pm, and cash prizes will be awarded. The cost per team of two is $30 for residents and $35 for non-residents. Alcohol may be brought to the event, but will not be supplied. The tournament will be held at Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road. Registration required. Adult Summer Softball
League play for Adult Summer Softball begins May 6 through the Lombard Park District. Co-ed, men’s and women’s leagues are available. The cost per team is $625 for residents and $725 for others. Girls Fast Pitch Softball
Lombard Park District offers an extensive fast pitch youth softball program for girls in grades 1-12 with instruction for all ages and skill levels. Registration deadline is March 3, and the league play runs April 21-June 30. There is a possibility of minimal travel with this league. The fee is $70-80 for residents and $80-90 for others. Girls Slow Pitch Softball
Lombard Park District offers a slow pitch youth softball program for girls ages 7-16 with instruction for all ages and skill levels. Registration deadline is March 31, and the league play runs May 5-June 30. There is a possibility of minimal travel with this league. The fee is $55-61 for residents and $65-71 for others. Intro to Rubber Stamping and Rubber Stamping II
Participants will learn to create stationary, recipe cards and greeting cards with Rubber Stamping classes through the Lombard Park District. Basic coloring embossing techniques will be taught, as well. The intro class, for ages 16 and up, will be offered Thursday, March 8, from 9-11 am and the level 2 class will be offered Thursday, March 15, from 9-11 am. Lilac Town Seniors
The Lilac Town Seniors will hold their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 21. All seniors ages 55 and up are welcome. Bingo and other free activities will be included. Dues are $3 per year and include the quarterly newsletter. Meetings are held at the Lombard Community Building, 433 E. St. Charles Road. Spring Soccer
Lombard Park District spring soccer for ages 4 through 8th grade will begin April 21. Players will improve their soccer skills and share in the fun and camaraderie at the heart of youth sports. The Park District selects the teams and the coaches determine the practice times. Games are on Saturday and practices are on weeknights. Shin guards and shirts are required. Shirts may be purchased for $16 through the Park District at the time of registration. The cost is $40 for residents and $50 for others when registering by March 10. School’s Out! Open Gym
Children in grades 3-12 will enjoy a variety of sports and prizes at the Lombard Park District School’s Out Open Gym. Open Gym will be offered on non-school days, including Friday, March 2 from 9 am-noon and 1-3:30 pm. Drop-ins only. The cost is $1 per hour attended. Open Gym Volleyball & Basketball
The Lombard Park District is offering Open Gym Volleyball for ages 18 & up on Mondays through March 26 from 7:30-9:30 pm. Open Gym Basketball is offered on Sundays through March 25 from 10-11:45 am. The cost is $5 per night for residents and $7 for others. Participants may pay on-site. Open Gym is held at Pleasant Lane School, 401 N. Main Street. Garden Plots
Garden plots are available in Madison Meadow, located off Madison Street near Ahrens Avenue. The plots are approximately 20’x40’. Returning gardeners may reserve their plot starting February 1. Open registration will begin March 5. Plots will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis during open registration. Fees are $35 for residents and $50 for non-residents. The gardening season begins in April, weather permitting. Renters are responsible for the upkeep of the plot. Lilac Time 5K Volunteers Needed
The Lombard Park District and Lombard Town Centre are looking for volunteers for the second annual Lilac Time Mutt Strut 5K and 1 mile walk. This event will be held Saturday, May 19, at 8 am near Lilacia Park, 150 S. Park Avenue. Dogs are welcome to participate in the event. Job Opportunities at Moran Water Park
Applications are now being accepted for summer employment at Moran Water Park. Openings are available in the following areas: lifeguards, water safety, cashiers, concessions, maintenance, and swim instruction. Training for all positions is provided. Preschool Parties
Youth ages 3-6 are invited to participate in Preschool Parties, a Friday afternoon program sponsored by the Lombard Park District. Each party features a different theme, with related crafts, games and refreshments. Children must be toilet independent or in pull-ups. Upcoming themes include Animal Kingdom on March 2, Wacky Weather on March 9 and St. Patrick’s Day on March 16. The cost is $9 for residents and $11 for others.
