Polar Express Story Time Train
(Ages 9 months+ and parent)
Do you hear Santa’s Bells ringing? If you do, hope out of bed and all aboard the Polar Express Story Time Train! You can even wear your pajamas! On our journey to the North Pole we will read the Polar Express and each rider will receive a cookie, chocolate milk, and their very own bell to take home. Tickets will be mailed to children if registered before November 28. Tickets will be available for pick up for children registering after November 28 if seats are available. Tickets are not transferable. Please make sure to allow extra time to park and check in. Check in will be on the South side of the train tracks (right off Parkside Ave). Anyone attending the Polar Express must register. Early arrival to train station does not guarantee specific spots on the train due to the nature of Metra and boarding location. Please note DATES AND TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE based on Metra availability.
New This Year: Due to the demand for this program, special registration rules apply. Polar Express will be processed by Random Selection/Lottery on Wednesday, August 16 2017. Registrations will not be accepted on-line or via telephone. All registrations forms received on or before Tuesday, August 15 will be processed equally by random selection/lottery; priority will not be given to mail, fax, or drop-off registrations.
Who is eligible to participate in the random selection/lottery?
Lombard Park District residents are eligible to be in the random selection/lottery. Registrations of non-residents will be processed beginning Wednesday, August 16 should tickets be available.
How many tickets are available per household?
There is limit of eight (8) tickets per household. Children age nine (9) months and older need a ticket.
How can I register for Polar Express?
Completely fill out one special registration form per household and mail to or drop off at, Sunset Knoll Recreation Center, 820 S. Finley Road, Lombard, IL 60148 or fax to (630) 620-0762. The special registration form can be found below. Mailed registrations must be postmarked on or before August 10, registrations dropped off or faxed must be received by day end, Tuesday, August 15. Registrations received Wednesday, August 16 or after will be kept and processed in the order received after the random selection/lottery is completed, pending availability of tickets.
Payment must be made at the time of registration with cash, check, Visa, MasterCard or Discover.
What happens if tickets are not available when my registration is randomly selected?
There is a limited number of tickets available for Polar Express. Unfortunately, selected times cannot be guaranteed. Including a second choice on your registration form is highly recommended. If tickets are no longer available when your registration is selected, you will either receive your second choice or be placed on a waiting list, pending options available. If you are placed on a waiting list and space does not become available, your payment will be refunded.
How do I know if my registration was processed?
A confirmation will be mailed to you after all random selection/lottery registrations have been processed.
