2020 Annual Special Events

February 1 | Winter Carnival

Don’t let cabin fever give your family the winter blues! Enjoy the cheer with at this FREE carnival. Be sure to bundle up because this indoor/outdoor event is full of hot cocoa, games, crafts, sledding and so much more. Take a ride on the Gold Medal Express train (weather-permitting) and spend the afternoon with family and friends.

February 7 | Valentine’s Teen Dance

Bring your friends to check out our teen dances held throughout the year! Our DJ will play all your favorite songs and take requests all evening long. All area youth are invited. Join the fun – you might be selected as the winner of a raffle prize or giveaway. Cash only with a valid student ID. Please note: dances are subject to cancellation or early closing depending on attendance at the start of the event.

March 21 | Take Time for Tots Day: CANCELED

Enjoy a morning a free arts and crafts, safety information, story telling pony rides, bounce houses, balloon animals and so much more!

April 4 | Egg Hunt: CANCELED

Hop into spring with a FREE egg hunt! Bring a basket and get ready to seek eggs, prizes and candy. Mr. Bunny may even make a guest appearance. Parents are allowed to accompany children but may not assist in the collection of eggs. Registration is not required for this event.

April 4 | Lunch with the Bunny: CANCELED

Mr. Bunny will be very hungry after the Egg Hunt so he is throwing a luncheon! Hop on over for Lunch with the Bunny at approximately 11:30 am. Mr. Bunny will pose for photos with each child for a complimentary keepsake. Families will enjoy a buffet lunch, crafts and of course dessert! Both parents and children attending the luncheon must register.

April 17 | Spring Fling Teen Dance: CANCELED

Bring your friends to check out our teen dances held throughout the year! Our DJ will play all your favorite songs and take requests all evening long. All area youth are invited. Join the fun – you might be selected as the winner of a raffle prize or giveaway. Cash only with a valid student ID. April 25 | Topsy Turvy Tea Party: CANCELED

Join us for an afternoon of topsy-turvy tea party fun. Come dressed in your tea party finest – there will be mini sandwiches, snacks and of course tea! Guests enjoy crafts, games and a mini fashion show where you can strut your stuff on our glamorous runway. Both parents and children attending the tea party must register.

May 1 | Little Lady Lilac Ball: CANCELED

Dads and daughters will dance, play games and enjoy a sweet table. Plus enjoy a visit from the Lilac Princesses!

May 15 | Beer Tasting: CANCELED

Come join Lombard Park District and Famous Liquors of Lombard to sample a variety of beers in Lilacia Park. Tasters will have a chance to taste of variety of beers and hear from experts about the golden suds. Participants receive a tasting glass and raffle ticket.

May 16 | Mutt Strut: CANCELED

The Lombard Park District presents its 15th Annual 5K and 1-Mile in conjunction with Lilac Time. Participate with or without your dog in either of these exciting events! Registration includes a dry fit race t-shirt, bib number and pancake breakfast ticket!

May 16 | Wine Tasting: CANCELED

Come join Lombard Park District and Famous Liquors of Lombard as we enjoy a sampling of many types of white, red and dessert wines. Hear from experts and learn what makes each wine delicious and unique. Participants will receive a tasting glass and raffle ticket.

June 13 | Free Community Fishing Day

While Lombard Park District is optimistic to reschedule its Fishing Derby event, that shouldn’t stop you from casting out on June 13 – Illinois’ Free Fishing Day! On Illinois Free Fishing Day, it is legal to fish without a license. All state codes will apply. Be sure to share what you catch with us on Facebook!

August 8 | Bounce Back to School: CANCELED

Let’s bounce back to school! Join us for a FREE morning of bounce houses, an inflatable obstacle course, refreshments, giveaways and live entertainment!

September 11 – 12 | Family Camp Out: CANCELED

Dust off that camping gear and get ready to spend a fun-filled evening at the rustic Log Cabin at Four Seasons. Activities for the entire family will be planned including crafts inside the log cabin, outdoor games, a flashlight hunt, late night s’mores and a continental breakfast in the morning.

September 19 | Touch-a-Truck: CANCELED

This event is perfect for families to play outside, meet with local businesses and touch-a-truck. A variety of vendors will be present along with activities focused on play. Kids will have the opportunity to explore police cars, fire trucks, dump trucks and so much more!

October 2 – 3 | Tales & Tombstones

The Lombard Historical Society in partnership with the Lombard Park District invites you to an evening in the oldest cemetery in Lombard. Staff and volunteers will guide attendees on a candlelit tour through the cemetery where they will meet past residents of Lombard that lived here over a hundred years ago. Listen to the bizarre, admirable and ridiculous things that these people did that, really, when you think of it, are pretty much the same types of things that people do today.

October 16 | Mom Prom: CANCELED

Moms and their sons get to join the fun at the all new Mom Prom. Dance to a DJ and play dance games with high energy Whitman Entertainment, plus a dessert bar!

October 17 | NEW! Fall Fest Express

Just because we can’t gather this year for Fall Fest doesn’t mean we can’t have all the fun! This year we are putting Fall Fest in a bag for families. Stop by with a food or money donation for the Lombard/Villa Park Food Pantry and each child in your car will receive a Fall Fest Express bag loaded with games, prizes, candy and more. Once you’ve grabbed your bag, stop by our photo station to capture the perfect fall family photo! The last stop is our pumpkin patch – one pumpkin per child in your vehicle. Please note: supplies will be limited to the first 500 children. Lombard Park District requests that families please wear face coverings while interacting with staff and follow social distancing guidelines.

October 22 | Monster Bash: CANCELED

Get ready for Halloween with the Monster Bash! Play spooky games, enjoy some ghoulish treats and be sure to wear a costume.

November 14 | Turkey Shoot: CANCELED

Get ready for Thanksgiving by participating in the 9th Annual Turkey Shoot. Showcase your skills in the Hot Shot Shooting Contest and/or Skills Competition for a chance to bring home the bird plus other giveaways! This event always gets us into the Thanksgiving spirit.

December 4 | Daddy Daughter Date Night

Dress your best, grab your dad and head to this popular event! Dads and daughters will have socially distanced dance fun, play holiday activities, and enjoy a yummy dessert table.

December 5 | Jingle Bell Jubilee

Jingles, the reindeer invites you to join the Lombard Park District, Village of Lombard, Helen Plum Library, Lombard Historical Society, Calvary Episcopal Church and Maple Street Chapel to enjoy the sights of the season.

December 6 | Polar Express Story Time Train

Hop out of bed and all aboard the Polar Express Story Time Train! You can even wear your pajamas. On your journey to the North Pole, we will read the Polar Express and each rider will receive a cookie, chocolate milk and their very own bell to take home.

December 5 – January 3 | Holiday Lights

Join the Lombard Park District’s annual lighting celebration in Lilacia Park! Charming holiday displays light up the park with a magical array of animated light shows, decorated trees, a gingerbread house and so much more!
