Green Initiatives

The Lombard Park District places a high value on environmental and open space preservation and strives to be a role model and support and partner with others to develop and implement programs that demonstrate and teach the value and vitality of sound environmental policies, practices, and procedures.

Native Areas Restoration
  • Terrace View’s Bring Nature Home Project shows the community a variety of plant beds that can be used in the resident’s home and broadcasts a balance of native plants.
  • No mow areas along pond banks increases wildlife population, including bees and pollinators.
  • Monarch Waystations provide resources to the monarch populations to produce successive generations and sustain their migration.
  • Prescribed burns increase plant diversity, controls invasive species, and improves wildlife habitat.
